You know what would be the most awesome Friday Favorite? Two sunny days in a row! Ahhhh... but we don't always get what we wish for now do we? On the bright side, sewing is a good activity for a dreary day and so is crocheting. The favorites for this dreary week are...
This is a two-fold favorite. First of all figuring out how to make a mask with a filter pocket and being able to use fabric that was already cut for a pattern without the pocket. Second, thank goodness for Google and You Tube!
I have three sewing machines, one was my mom's, one was given to me and one is my own. In the middle of sewing masks all three of them decided to have issues. For a while I had one machine that didn't work at all, one machine that would sew but not wind a bobbin and one machine that would wind the bobbin but not sew. Can you say "frustrating"? But at least I could sew.
Well, yesterday all three machines went on strike and none of them would work. The one that would sew suddenly wouldn't advance the fabric... grrrrrrrrrr. Finally, I went online and found a solution... so simple it's embarrassing. The issue was that there is a little button on the top of the machine and it adjusts the fabric feeds. It must have gotten bumped and was on the lowest setting and needed to be on the highest. Easy peasy! The embarrassing part is I remembered that my machine repairman had told me about that one time when he was doing maintenance on it but I forgot... so I wrote myself a note so if it happens again I'll know what the problem is... if I remember to look for the note....
Hubby and I made a supply run into town this week and it made me smile to see so little traffic. This is the main road through the city... two lanes both ways, with turn lanes here and there... and it is usually very busy. The only time you see it like this is if you happen to driving very early in the morning or very late at night and even then there is more traffic than this. We were there in the middle of the day. Proud of our community for doing their part and staying home!
Since I didn't post a Wednesday WIP blog this week I thought I'd show you the color and the pattern for the sweater I'm working on. I am in love with this color and the pattern is much easier than I thought that it would be... score!
Free donut Friday! I know was one of my favorites in March, but Dunkin extended the offer for Fridays in April. So, if we are good and practice social distancing and "house arrest" all week, we treat ourselves to coffee and a free donut on Friday.
I have bleach and several containers of sanitizing wipes but they aren't going to last forever and I think we will be sanitizing for quite a while yet. So, I've been on the lookout for the stores to get wipes or bleach or something to pick up for cleaning and so far no luck. When we went to town for supplies I found this industrial sanitizer in Sam's Club. It will make 64 gallons... heaven help us if we need more than that! So we're good one cleaner and toilet paper, if only we could find some hand sanitizer...
And last, but certainly not least, I love this Easter wreath that my daughter in law's mom made for me last year. It's burlap, golden eggs and bunny ears, fuzzy owls and a polka dot bow... so very me. She makes the most amazing wreaths and I am so blessed to have two of them.
Check out this wreath she made for her daughter to hang on their front door for Autism Awareness...
She is one talented lady!
I hope you are all doing well and staying safe at home. Enjoy the weekend!
Thanks for dropping by...
