Richard Thaler won the Nobel prize for economics for his work on how human psychology affects decision-making. Mr Thaler, who teaches at the University of Chicago, laid out his ideas on behavioural economics and public policy in “Nudge”, a best-seller he co-authored in 2008. He said he would try to spend his $1.1m prize money “as irrationally as possible”.
